Rony Lenis, originally from Pereira, Colombia, began his formal dance education at the Miami Conservatory of Ballet. After graduating secondary school, Mr. Lenis was awarded a full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, where he was featured in various ballets by Robert Joffrey, and Gerald Arpino. He was invited by Gelsey Kirkland to join the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet for further study in the classical and Bournonville repertoire. During his last years in New York, Mr. Lenis trained under the Paris Opera Ballet syllabus at the French Academie of Ballet, guided by the artistic direction of François Perron.

Mr. Lenis was a member of the Colorado Ballet Studio Company for two seasons, where he had the opportunity to dance George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations and Glen Tetley’s The Rite of Spring, as well as classics like Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. 

Mr. Lenis' past repertory with City Ballet of San Diego includes George Balanchine's RubiesThe Four Temperaments, and Square Dance. He has also danced in Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, as well as originating roles in works by the company's resident choreographer.
